Paper types
Poster paper types and print quality – Standard or Premium?
All Same Same Studio posters are printed on high-quality poster paper, but you can choose from two different print qualities: Standard Laser and Premium Ink. On this page we explain the difference between CMYK laser printing and 8-pigment inkjet printing, what matte, silk or photo satin paper means, and how to choose the right paper type for your poster.
What paper is used for posters?
Poster paper directly affects how colors, contrast, and details appear on the wall. The most common options are matte paper, silk paper, and photo satin paper.
- Matte – The most common poster paper. A soft, non-reflective surface that works especially well for graphic posters.
- Silk – Slightly shiny paper that reproduces colorful and dark images better than matte papers.
- Photo Satin 190 g – High-quality, finely glossy paper that makes colors very deep and rich.
If you're wondering "matte or glossy poster paper" or "best paper for a poster" - the choice depends on whether you want a subdued or more striking result.
Standard – CMYK laser print
Standard prints are made using high-quality CMYK laser technology. The result is clear, high-contrast and colorful – excellent for graphic posters and strong color surfaces.
- Ideal for graphic posters and large color areas
- Excellent value for money
- Fast production
- Available in all sizes
Premium – 8-pigment inkjet
Premium prints are produced using a state-of-the-art inkjet system with eight individual pigment ink cartridges. The result is exceptionally rich and subtle – with deeper colours, more accurate tones and finer detail reproduction than Standard printing.
- Excellent for photographic and detailed images
- Deeper blacks and richer color gradients
- Especially recommended for large sizes (50×70 cm)
- Museum quality – can last for decades in the right conditions
Which one to choose?
For simple graphic posters, Standard is fine. If you want the best possible quality or if your poster has a lot of detail, photographic quality, or subtle tones, we recommend Premium.
When in doubt, choose Premium – you won't regret it.
